The Herb Flatow Collection
In 1955 Herb Flatow was a staff photographer at Dance Magazine.
One day, he was tasked with capturing the movement system known as Contrology at Joseph Pilates' gymnasium. The photographs on this site are the product of that unique photo session, depicting all the various pieces of equipment, a variety of notable faces and the very specific hands-on technique of the man who created the worldwide system known simply as Pilates.
